if there’s one thing i’m no good at it’s drawing SHOES so i decided some practice would do me good and boy did it do wonders
This PDF file contains 37 pages of hand sketches. 80% of the sketches are referenced from the book "Drawing Dynamic Hands" by Burne Hogarth, while the rest of the sketches are drawn from life or imagination.
In the case of the latter; it’s more visualizing than imagination. It’s an exercise I like to do when I read anatomy books. When I see an illustration of an interesting pose for certain part of the body, I like to draw it from another angle while visualizing it in my head as a 3d object rotating.
It’s a really good exercise~
I drew most of the sketches in ballpoint pen and each sketch didn’t take more than 1-3 minutes.
It’s important to keep in mind that while I’m drawing from reference, I don’t just copy. I keep thinking as I’m drawing of the mechanism and the movement along side the shape and contour of the part I’m drawing.

I got a request from caretdashcaret to do a tutorial on how I color so here’s a really basic idea of how I handle things. Firstly, i’m ridiculously appreciative to hear people like the way I color things, because up till a couple years ago it was something I was really self-conscious about. That said, it doesn’t come naturally to me. It’s a lot of adjustments and improvising. I hope it makes sense!
Oh, and the character is from my [knight-sleeping beauty mini-project] (which I swear i’m still working on.)
someone asked about helmets and also hats SO YEAH HEHE H USE REFERENCS IF UR EVER UNSURE OF HOW SOMEHING LOOKS LIKE HELMETS AND CAPS GIVE ME ALOT OF PAIN TOO CRIES ON MY Dides
I don’t really think I’m that good at anatomy (or females) but this is quite a popular request so… I’m making a tutorial, and this is the part to show you what NOT to do with your fellow humans. More coming… eventually.
I suck at breast variations, but I try; see this page for awesome references: x
